As always BarbaraTaylor Bradford is very discrptive. You can actually see yourself in whatever setting she is describing. I love the intrigue and characters. They have so much depth to them. I read all 4 books and would have read 4 more of this family if it was written.
I enjoyed the storyline for series, but found it difficult to keep track of characters and this became more difficult with each book. I’m not sure why...too many characters, similar names. I just kept getting lost with who was doing what. Not had this with other series.
I loved all 4 of the Cavendon books and am sad that their story has ended. I was reluctant to finish this book because the characters are so real and likable. Especially in these times to read about strong, remarkable, courageous, smart women is wonderful. Despite living a very different life than my own I very much enjoyed the stories of these 2 British families .
In the past, I have enjoyed Barbara Taylor Bradford 's novels. But this was a grave disappointment. There were so many characters , I spent more time trying to remember who they were and what their relationship was to each other. There was very little intrigue and the best part was the very end but you had to work too hard to get there. Don't waste your time.
Ever since A Woman of Substance I have been a big fan of this author. She writes with strong female characters, interesting story lines and usually good wins out in the end. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an entertaining fast moving story with a few love stories intertwined with mystery and some surprising twists and turns.
I have read every book Ms Bradford has written and I found this one a little slower to read. Going back over the history and all of the people and their stories seemed more boring than other sequels she has written. Will be eagerly awaiting the next book about this family
I highly recommend this book and the entire series. There wasn't a time when I was the least bit bored. The description of the war, from the prospective of the English was fascinating and at times, I felt that I was there. I could feel the fear, the terror and the apprehension. Barbra Taylor Bradford has a wonderful imagination and has made these characters come to life for me. Each and every one well developed and real and as you get to know them, they become a part of you and the story. The entire series is not to be missed.
