Guided by the sorceress's familiar, a fox, they make several terrifying ventures into the other world while trying to deal with problems in their own world. The characterization in this book is the best that L.J. Smith has ever done, and the pace never lets up.

I have loved this story since the first time I read it in middle school. I recently found an omnibus of Ms Smith's other stories in a used book store and had to look this one up on . The pace is fun, the characters will appeal to a wide range of folks and it's worth reading over and over.
